Angkor Wat Temple Siem Reap Cambodia

DSC_0149

As I put my first step on Siem Reap I felt a little bit dizzy by the extremely frisky environment of the city.

It took me a couple of days before getting used with it.

The city teems of shops and massage centers,DSC_0260 walking without being stopped by traders it is really difficult. A chant ( massage, massage, massage) will accompany your walk along the roads. Nevertheless although it might be annoyed, people are friendly and kind always with a smile for you. It is difficult to get nervous and after a while that chant becomes part of the atmosphere of the city.

I spent five days in Siem Reap, and I must say that they were not enough for such amazing city rich in culture. DSC_1746 DSC_1751 DSC_1753 DSC_1756 DSC_0086DSC_0030 DSC_0059 DSC_0062 2 DSC_0104 DSC_0129 2DSC_0139 DSC_0165 DSC_0167 DSC_0233

  1. Thank you very much for sharing! I heard already a lot about the temple – especially regarding mass tourism. What is your personal perception? Is the site endangered because of so many tourists? What is done for its protection? Did you experience any restrictions (to enter or to take pictures)? What do you think? Thank you so much!

    • Hi there, it is a pleasure to share my experience.
I must say that Cambodian people and Asian in general are people that let themselves be photographed
easily. I faced no problem in taking pictures everywhere, and so no problem in taking pictures in Temples.
Just one thing, generally if Monks are preying you cannot take picture of them.

Regarding Angkor Wat Temple, yah, you are right, some temples are not safe, but do not worry, there are signs that tells you the danger, and so to not go in in those temples.
I did not feel in danger, of course some times walking in the ruins I felt the fear that a massive stone would have fallen on me, but it was just a normal feeling, I felt fairly safe.

There are many restructuring works going on in the archeological site, especially to make safe the ruins,
so do not worry, the place is marvelous and safe from many point of views,
if you are planning to go there, just go and enjoy it, it is something that worth to be seen.

I even travelled through Thailand and Laos, in case you would need any suggestion just ask me.

I hope I have been useful to you,
      have a nice day
      Ezio
